Ink Painted with a stick and graphite

150 x 103 cm - Framed in an elegant black shadow box frame with Art Glass

This piece was a testament to my patience and will. But it was absolutely worth it for it came alive in the end. I wanted to challenge myself by seeing how big I could go with my little stick that I paint with. Each bird too 1.5 - 2 hours to paint and there are 15 in total…and that was the easy part! I spent over three months working on this piece. I was using a reference photo that had a blurred background and so I had to leave my comfort zone and try new techniques in order to represent that in my artwork. Finally I came to finish the piece with pencil to create the softness in the background and in turn pulling forward the Yellow tailed Black Cockatoos and the dancing figure.

The wind, the softness, the birds, the dance, you can feel it all when you look at the artwork. It’s quite special, even if I say so myself. You will enjoy spending hours of gazing and wandering at this piece.
